I know what it feels like to carry the role.

I progressed through children’s residential care into Registered Manager leadership and now work as a Responsible Individual. That means the resources and support here are shaped by the reality of leading homes — not just reading what leadership should look like on paper.

I created many of these resources by asking a simple question: what would I genuinely have found useful when I first became a manager?

Usually the answer was not more theory. It was an experienced perspective, a practical example, a question that made me think differently or something clear enough to use when the home was busy.

Qualifications give us knowledge. Experience teaches us how to use it.

My approach is therapeutic, relationship-led and grounded in curiosity rather than criticism. I believe strong standards and human leadership can sit together — and that the best challenge usually comes after you have taken the time to understand.
